'Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon' gebruikt 'Mandalorian'-techniek
Opnames met enorme virtuele achtergronden worden steeds meer toegepast door grote producties.
Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden heeft aangekondigd dat er drie nieuwe sound stages komen waar gloednieuwe virtuele productie-faciliteiten (zoals de StageCraft-studio's van The Mandalorian) worden ondergebracht.
De eerste productie die wordt gefilmd op de zogenaamde 'V Stage' wordt Game of Thrones-prequel House of the Dragon voor HBO. Op de V Stage kunnen op commando de meest ongelooflijke werelden tevoorschijn worden getoverd, wat een hele hoop kosten en moeite zal besparen bij dit soort enorme projecten.
Meer spinoffs?
Daarnaast benadrukte Casey Bloys, content-baas bij HBO, opnieuw dat House of the Dragon nog steede de ENIGE Thrones-spinoff is waarvoor het groene licht is gegeven. Er worden echter meerdere andere spinoffs ontwikkeld, maar dat wil niet zeggen dat ze ook allemaal zullen worden gemaakt.
V Stage wordt direct een van de grootste virtuele productie-studio's in Europa, met een ruimte van ruim 2200 vierkante meter en 2600 LED-panelen.
House of the Dragon wordt ergens in 2022 verwacht.
There are also an additional 5,544 sq. ft. of LED panels with eight sections that work independently of one another. Virtual stages with LED walls are expected to propagate around the world in the next few years and are presently being utilised at facilities in Los Angeles, London and Sydney.
