'Addams Family'-serie van Netflix en Tim Burton vindt zijn Gomez Addams
Eindelijk is de eerste acteur voor de langverwachte nieuwe versie van The Addams Family aangekondigd.
Netflix werkt momenteel aan de Addams Family-serie met de titel Wednesday. We wisten al dat Jenna Ortega de rol van Wednesday zal spelen, maar nu is ook bekend dat Luis Guzmán haar vader Gomez Addams zal spelen!
In de eigenzinnige live-action serie zien we hoe Wednesday Addams haar studententijd doorbrengt aan Nevermore Academy. Wednesday probeert haar ontluikende psychische gaves onder controle te krijgen en zet deze krachten in om een seriemoordenaar in haar woonplaats tegen te onthouden.
Het mysterie rondom de serie moorden is er een waarbij haar ouders 25 jaar eerder al betrokken waren. Ortega (The Babysitter: Killer Queen) speelt de zwartharige broer-martelaar in de serie.
Tim Burton aan boord
In februari werd al bekend dat de zwartgallige comedy-serie zal bestaan uit acht afleveringen dat niemand minder dan Tim Burton zal regisseren en produceren. Al Gough en Miles Millar doen dienst als showrunners.
Guzmán, die in meer dan 150 films peelde, zal de gastrol spelen van Gomez, patriarch van de familie Addams. De rol van Gomez werd eerder gespeeld door Raul Julia, John Astin en Tim Curry. In de recente animatiefilm uit 2019 hoorden we Oscar Isaac als Gomez.
Guzmán will appear in a guest-starring role as Gomez, Wednesday's father and patriarch of the Addams clan. Other actors that have played Gomez throughout the years include Raul Julia, John Astin, and Tim Curry, as well as others. In more recent times, Oscar Isaac voiced the character in 2019's Addams Family.
Guzmán has more than 150 acting credits to his name and has appeared in such films as Traffic, Boogie Nights, Punch-Drunk Love, and more. I personally never would have pegged Guzmán as the Gomez Addams type, but you know what? I'm here for it. I'd love to see him get weird and really embrace the role.
